We have all experienced the frustration of trying to move a photo or document between a phone and a laptop in the same room. You end up emailing yourself, messaging yourself on social media, or hunting for a USB cable. RunDrop's Local Wi-Fi Radar Board solves this instantly. If your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, they can see each other's shared items and transfer files with zero hassle.

How the Local Wi-Fi Radar Board Works

When you are connected to your home, office, or school Wi-Fi network, your router gives your devices a shared local network connection. RunDrop recognizes when devices are on the same local network and allows you to publish items directly to the Nearby Radar Board.

No Cable or App Required

You do not need to install software, install browser extensions, or pair Bluetooth devices. Simply open RunDrop in any web browser.

Works Across All Platforms

Share seamlessly between Windows PCs, MacBooks, Android phones, iPhones, iPads, and Linux computers.

Optional 4-Digit Room PIN

On busy office or school Wi-Fi networks, you can set an optional 4-digit PIN so only people who know your PIN can see and download your files.

Automatic Cleanup

Shared items stay on the radar board only for your chosen time limit. Once expired, all data is permanently cleaned up.

Step-by-Step: How to Share on Local Wi-Fi

1

Connect Both Devices to the Same Wi-Fi

Make sure your phone, tablet, or computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi router (for example, your home or office Wi-Fi).

2

Select Files or Write a Note

On the sending device, select the files you want to transfer, paste text, or write a note. Enable the "Publish to Local Wi-Fi" toggle before sharing.

3

Open the Receive Tab on Nearby Devices

On the receiving computer or phone, go to the Receive page and select the Local Wi-Fi tab. The Radar Board will automatically detect transfers on your network.

4

Click to Download

Click on the item card to preview or download the file directly to your device. You can download individual files or get everything in a single click.

OFFICE & CLASSROOM TIP

When sharing sensitive materials in an office or classroom, add a 4-digit room PIN or password. That way, only colleagues in your specific meeting room can access the files.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can someone outside my home or office Wi-Fi see my files?

No. Items published to the Local Wi-Fi Radar Board are only visible to devices sharing the same Wi-Fi network connection.

What if my devices are on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

As long as both Wi-Fi bands belong to the same home router, they share the same local network and will discover each other smoothly.

Do I have to keep the sender's screen open while the receiver downloads?

No. Once the upload finishes, the transfer stays on the local board until its expiration timer runs out, so the receiver can download whenever they are ready.
